The Hirsch Foundation for Medical Suspended Animation was founded in 2017 and funds projects in the field of medical research. The foundation’s purpose is to contribute to a long and healthy life, and to prevent life from being shortened by early death.
In order to achieve these goals, the foundation engages in the following activities:
- Funding of research projects at universities and private research facilities
- Scholarships for researchers and scientists
- Organization of scientific events, congresses and meetings
- Dissemination of medical knowledge and discoveries
The application of biostasis in medicine, i.e. of methods which reversibly stop biological metabolism, is a core area of research for the foundation. Medical biostasis holds the promise to keep donor organs viable for a long period of time so that they can reach an optimally suitable recipient, or to gain time for care and healing during medical treatment.
A more detailed description of our research objectives and how to apply for funds can be found here.
